My most recent solo exhibition took place at & Osteo in Brockley from January to March 2024. It provided a wonderful opportunity to engage with the local community, allowing me to connect my art with a broader audience. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with strong interest in my work and successful sales, making it a truly rewarding experience.
"Traps & Temptations" explored the delicate balance between desire and danger, capturing moments where human experiences hover between surrender and entrapment. In the "Tears in the Rain" series, a mythological flood is reimagined as a cinematic downpour. These paintings depict characters finding clarity and transformation in the rain, embracing their fate rather than fleeing from it, as the water symbolizes both destruction and rebirth.
"It's a Trap" series delves into the tension of entrapment through Hitchcockian suspense. Here, the rotary dial telephone, once a symbol of connection, becomes a relic of manipulation. The paintings explore the liminal space between reality and dream, as characters are ensnared in tangled wires of communication. The stark palette of black, red, and gold emphasizes the dual nature of these scenes, where glossy surfaces conceal darker truths, and golden light lures viewers into the subconscious.
The exhibition concludes with "Bond Girls: Love and Let Die," examining the evolving image of the Bond Girl. These works highlight the tension between glamour and peril, with each painting featuring a Bond Girl from a different era, marked by a red highlight for those who met an untimely end. "Traps & Temptations" invites reflection on the allure and risks of desire, and the intricate traps we create in its pursuit.
